The Philanthropic arm of Omidyar Group called Luminate has unveiled a $1 million media lab project, tagged Baraza Media Lab for journalism, publishing and media entrepreneurs in Kenya.  This wills create room for independent media to thrive and innovation within the media sectors. It will serve as a media hub for media practitioners and also foster building relationship within the media, citizen and civil society. The hub will deliver training to journalism through a content program to develop journalist. It is will also address the needs of journalist in the community and promoting innovation that will help the media beyond.

The Baraza media Lab will leverage training modules like payment infrastructure, innovative content delivery and intense use of technology like data and analytics to improve the media sector. It will commence operation at the end of the year at Keystone Park in Riverside, Nairobi.

The Managing Director at Luminate, Ory Okoloh said the Baraza Media Lab will be an important support for journalist and entrepreneurs in Kenya.
